Join the Bucket Brigade

Compassionate Alliance was one of the first immediate response organizations to open a distribution site in Southern Mississippi in Harrison County, which includes Gulfport and Biloxi. In the first 10 days after Hurricane Katrina hit, more than 150,000 victims of the storm were helped with water, ice, food, clothing, medicines, baby products, and toys. From this one site, 212 semi-truckloads of supplies were distributed to 15 other faith-based organizations at Points of Distribution (PODs). In addition, Compassionate Alliance was appointed as the lead agency for volunteers and donations with one of our staff members, Chad Holgerson, as the lead liaison of this outreach. He managed the distribution of supplies to 22 county distribution sites and 50 private agencies in Mississippi and Louisiana: directing over 14 million pounds of relief supplies to help people who were going through this difficult time.

As the initial response has finished, Compassionate Alliance is launching our next phase of help to the people in the Gulf area. Our goal is to send 100,000 disaster buckets to New Orleans and the surrounding communities along with teams of volunteers to go door-to-door and bless the people as they endeavor to clean their homes and get their lives back to some sense of normalcy.

Compassionate Alliance is encouraging businesses, civic groups, churches and individuals to join our effort to continue assisting the families in the devastated area. The disaster buckets contain necessary cleaning supplies and other items to help people at this time of great need.

As these disaster buckets are shipped to the area, volunteers will help distribute them door-to-door to help the victims in the Gulf area know that the people of Compassionate Alliance are concerned about the transformation of their communities.
Join our "Bucket Brigade" as we move into this recovery phase.
